Our Vision
To be everyone’s solution for financial wellbeing.
A Little History
In 1941, employees of the Department of Welfare had the idea of forming their own credit union and a memo was sent out on September 12, 1941 asking coworkers interested to attend a meeting. From that meeting, the Welfare Credit Union was born and chartered on February 13, 1942. The credit union elected a board of directors and began operating out of a cigar box in the Commerce Building.
Today
Today, the credit union has over $121M in assets and serves over 12,000 members with a large array of financial services. We are proud to serve members from a variety of employer groups and underserved areas in the State of Louisiana.
We thank those early charter members who joined together embracing the fundamental credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and our members of today.
